Steerable machine skates are highly manoeuvrable due to their precise steering handles and swivel castors. They are extremely useful for moving factory machinery, steel constructions & other heavy loads.
Every operation starts with the need to prise the load clear of the ground to get a means of mobility underneath it. With lighter weight loads this is done manually but for heavier equipment it requires mechanical assistance. The obvious first choice is our roller crow bars which enable the load to be elevated. In some cases the load is even moved. At the very least it enables you to operate a hydraulic lifter to jack up the load for the lighter loads. For the heavier loads there is usually some form of jacking point. We supply several different types of toe jack for hydraulically elevating loads up to 25 tonnes. For higher loads you use them in series to gently bring the load up to enable our various skate and roller systems to be strategically placed beneath the load. The load is then moved and steered to the intended destination.
One of the simple ways of doing this is to use our platform skates. These comprise a series of rollers or wheels configured to suit their positioning and the type of load. They can be simply placed beneath the elevated load, set in pairs or set up individually to suit the operation. Steering systems are available along with kits to provide you with every type of combination you need to move the heaviest of equipment.
See also our load mover section. This section is for lighter bulkier loads such as cabinets and cupboards. Vending machines and commercial machinery requiring gentle handling over longer distances is perfect for load movers.
If you require special fabrications and steel work to achieve mobility please ask us as we can design and make these for you.
